Back before there was "Viking Air" the Viking people who handled the air reservations were wonderful and they didn't charge you. I don't understand how Viking allows this situation to continue as it jeopardizes their reputation for excellence. Viking cruises are wonderful experiences, but Viking Air is horrible to try to work with. Viking Air is essentially an Indian call center masking as a travel agency. Call Viking Air and am told because it is less than 24 hours to my flight, I need to call the airlines. Call airline and am told to call Viking Air. Flight out of Iceland is delayed which means I will miss connection in Copenhagen. On my last trip I was in a Catch 22 situation. If you have a problem with your flight and call the airlines, they will tell you to call Viking Air. If you are flying economy from other than a gateway city, expect your seat to be in the very back of the plane until you get to the gateway city. Thank goodness I had done research and told them of another option- yes, it was a longer layover, but I didn't risk making my connection. So why did you book this? The told me there were no other options. Asked them if they really thought the connection could be made in this amount of time and the answer was "no". My last trip they routed me through Canada and only allowed one hour to make connections. I have made mad dashes across the airports in Charlotte and Madrid. As someone else has noted, they often don't allow enough time between connections. Do your research before even talking to them because they will not investigate options very thoroughly. It is a major hassle dealing with Viking Air. Be aware that Viking uses only certain airlines and only has a certain number of seats on select flights. I have dealt with Viking Air on multiple trips and have been very unhappy with the experience.
